Music4Changeâ„¢
Music4Changeâ„¢ is RMC's division of community outreach. It provides and models excellence in music education in non-traditional, underserved venues. The Music4Changeâ„¢ C.O.R.P.S. (community outreach, resources, programs and services) facilitates active participation, engaged learning and meaningful connections in music to the community. Music4Changeâ„¢ brings quality music programming, free of charge, to individuals and groups who might not otherwise have the opportunity to play an instrument or experience live music performances.
Our Programs
The Hip Hop Experience
This program serves as a catalyst for at-risk youth who need assistance navigating the educational system. It emphasizes the academics of reading and writing as well as creating a powerful emotional outlet by guiding students through the process of writing their own hip hop song based on their personal experiences.
Dare to Drum Assemblies
Our hands-on drumming experience promotes critical social skills that are useful in community settings. Youth perform as part of an ensemble, which helps them feel included by their peers. Without the long learning curve associated with other musical instruments, drumming delivers "instant achievement" and a sense of empowerment.
Senior Outreach
This effort involves live music performances for residents of Assisted Living centers, offering RMC students an opportunity to enrich, highlight and share their musical talents while learning the valuable benefits of community service
The Scholarship Fund
The mission of Recreational Music Center (RMC) is to cultivate the joy of making music through relevant, cutting edge teaching methods, making them available to EVERYONE regardless of financial resources or other barriers.
Staying true to this mission, RMC ensures that every student with the desire to participate in our programs is given the opportunity to participate in music. We offer scholarships to students with financial need and exceptional merit. These individual scholarships are all supported by generous donors, with a passion for assuring every student can achieve personal and educational growth through music.
